Josi is a higher education researcher and evaluation specialist with expertise in student experience, wellbeing, and equity, with a strong focus on international and domestic students’ experiences before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her work combines rigorous qualitative and quantitative research with a strong applied orientation. She has designed and led interview-based studies, thematic analysis, and mixed-methods projects that explore how students navigated academic, social, and institutional environments during periods of significant disruption, and what this means for higher education policy and practice.
Josi holds a PhD in social sciences from The University of Queensland. Her doctoral research examines how the COVID-19 pandemic reshaped student experiences and satisfaction with institutional and social aspects of higher education in Australia. She has presented this work at international conferences and am working toward publication in higher education journals.
Alongside research, Josi has professional experience in evaluation, communications, and data analysis within university and policy-adjacent settings. She is particularly interested in roles and collaborations that sit at the interface of research, evaluation, and practice, where evidence can meaningfully inform teaching, support services, and institutional decision-making.
