Impact

The Working Paper Series has demonstrated outstanding impact in high-profile reports and inquiries from government and non-government organisations in Australia and internationally. Some showcase examples of the power of our Working Papers to inform important policy discussion and development include the Productivity Commission’s 2018 report on the state of inequality in Australia, which featured a number of papers; the Australian Government Inquiry into Intergenerational Welfare Dependence 2018-2019 and its final report, Living on the Edge, which cited papers and featured an entire chapter titled ‘Life Course’; and the Australian Human Rights Commission 2017 Children’s Rights Report, which drew upon student-led Working Papers.

Profile

As part of our publishing process, Working Papers are now also published by SSRN – an online repository devoted to the rapid dissemination of scholarly research in the social sciences and humanities and more. SSRN is at the international forefront of online sharing of academic research, and its eLibrary provides over 914,000 research papers from more than 460,000 researchers across more than 50 disciplines. Our Working Papers also consistently generate strong media exposure and profile for authors, and our Media and Communications Officer uses a range of channels to strategically position papers to reach target audiences. This includes, but is not limited to social media; media releases; key policy outlets such as The Mandarin and Analysis and Policy Observatory (APO); our News articles; and inclusion in our Digest newsletter

Note: Authors of papers accepted for publication in the Life Course Centre Working Paper Series automatically agree to their paper also being published on SSRN, being assigned a DOI, and being communicated via strategic channels as outlined above.
