Life Course Roadmap for the Future

The Life Course Roadmap for the Future will identify long-term priorities and actions needed to address deep, persistent, and widening disadvantage in Australia. It will be informed by government, non-government orgasnisations, business, academia, and the community, and identify opportunities to work together to achieve lasting change.

Our vision is to help shape a different Australia by providing a shared framework using a life course approach that aligns research, policy and investment to reduce social disadvantage and deliver improve outcomes for current and future generations.

Priority Setting Exercise

Priority Setting online tool will help to identify the long-term priorities and actions for addressing disadvantage for Australians from birth to old age. The online tool will give researchers, stakeholders and the broader community the opportunity to submit the priorities that they believe matter most.

First Nations Gatherings

Led by First-Nations Research Co-leader
Brendan Kennedy, Tati Tati and Wadi Wadi Traditional Owner

Three workshops (Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth) are being held in 2026 to bring together Elders, knowledge holders, community members and researchers to share and discuss the future of First Nations research in Australia. The Gatherings will ensure the roadmap is grounded in the expertise of First Nations people.

A series of in-person and virtual meetings and workshops with government, non-government and community organisations will be held throughout the consultation phase. These discussions will bring together diverse perspectives and help shape the roadmap.
