Dipendra Singh Thakuri

Dipendra has a public health and sociology background and is passionate about health systems, equity, implementation research, evidence-based policy, and program design. He holds a master’s degree in public health and sociology. He has spent over a decade in health and development reform across Nepal, particularly focusing on strengthening maternal, newborn, and adolescent health and the health system.


Dipendra began his career working in the health sector back in 2008 and worked with Save the Children, ADRA, and HealthRight International in various capacities. his recent role was Technical Manager-Health and Nutrition at Save the Children, where he led the overall health and nutrition portfolio at the sub-national level. Dipendra has extensive hands-on skills and experience in project design, conducting mixed methods research, and evidence-based program development. He led several operational research and policy initiatives while providing technical support to federal and provincial health ministries in developing evidence-based policy and programs.

His research contribution includes multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, emphasizing evidence-based solutions for strengthening health systems and addressing disparities in health outcomes, particularly focusing on adolescents and young women. His research focuses on life course epidemiology, sexual and reproductive health and rights, maternal and newborn health, strengthening health systems, and health equity. Dipendra is pursuing a PhD at the UQ Poche Centre for Indigenous Health, focusing on implementing a life course approach in antenatal and postnatal care settings to prevent and reduce non-communicable disease risks in Nepal.
