Dr Juliana Silva Gonçalves

Juliana is a behavioural and experimental economist interested in gaining a better understanding of the reasons for persistent disparities in education, career and health outcomes between different socioeconomic groups. Juliana is particularly interested in studying how the school environment influences student decisions as well as in the evaluation of interventions aiming at improving educational outcomes of disadvantaged students. Juliana obtained her PhD from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2015 and was subsequently a research fellow at the Berlin Social Science Centre (WZB) and QUT. Juliana joined the University of Sydney in 2018 as postdoctoral research fellow of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course and is a Lecturer in Economics since January 2022.
