Thilini is an interdisciplinary researcher and applied economist, specialising in health economics and behavioural economics. Her PhD thesis examines two pressing public health challenges in Australia: the inappropriate use of the emergency department by less urgent (GP-type) patients, and cognitive biases and heuristics that influence the emergency triage decision-making process. She also has experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Far North Queensland. Her research interests include Indigenous health, emergency medicine, health economics, behavioural economics, and experimental economics.
