Dr Madonna Boman is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and lecturer in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work at the Univerity of Queensland. She brings over 20 years of experience in policy, research and evalution in government and community agencies to her work in academia. Dr Boman uses ethnographic and other qualitative methods to explore the processes associated with child protection and leaving care systems as they relate ot the experiences of children, young people, families, carers and practitioners. Dr Boman is a postdoctoral researcher on a longitudinal study with carers, children and birth parents involved with child protection, focusing on improving the social and emothional wellbeing outcomes for children and their families. Dr Boman is interested in contributing to knowledge about how connections and relationships enable and/or inhibit people’s lives; and how the processes of government in child protection, education, social and health services continue to influence people’s lives across the life course.
