Associate Professor Alyssa Milton

Associate Professor Alyssa Milton is a Psychologist and research focused academic at The University of Sydney’s Faculty of Medicine and Health, Brain and Mind Centre. She serves as the Director of the Knowledge Transfer Portfolio and a member of the Executive for the ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course.

With two decades of experience in academic and senior management roles across the mental health sectors in Australia and the UK, A/Prof Milton has led evaluations for numerous government and non-government mental health programs nationally. As a Chief Investigator (A), A/ProfMilton currently leads research streams (including NHMRC and MRFF funded grants) focusing on the co-development and evaluation of mental health and wellbeing programs for children, youth, and adults. These programs utilise participatory design and hybrid implementation-effectiveness evaluation methodologies, delivered through both face-to-face and digital platforms. Previously, A/Prof Milton served as Principal Research Associate and Senior Research Clinician at University College London (UCL), where she implemented evidence-based interventions across NHS mental health services and developed expertise in translational mental health research.

A/Prof Milton is an Editor for BMC Psychiatry, has served on the scientific advisory boards for SANE Australia and the Raise Foundation, and is the founding chair of the National Qualitative Research Network within the ARC Life Course Centre. She also contributes to several national and international committees, including the Lancet Commission into the physical health of individuals with complex mental health conditions.
