As Australian cities grow and change, challenges linked to rapid urbanisation are becoming more evident, particularly the need to ensure equitable access to services. To respond to the increasing challenge, it is necessary to observe rapid changes across the built environment, the socio-demographics of locations and other relevant factors. This Life Course Centre study examined the variation in access to services such as schools or primary health care across Australia’s capital cities. It also explored the opportunities and co-benefits that urban densification can bring in improving accessibility to social services.
