Workshop

26th Labour Econometrics Workshop (LEW)

LEW has become the leading workshop for labour economics and applied economics more generally in the Oceania region.

Hosted by the School of Economics at The University of Queensland

During the past 25 years, LEW has become the leading workshop for labour economics and applied economics more generally in the Oceania region. The workshop is a place for researchers to present cutting edge research in labour economics with an emphasis on the application of econometric methods. Over the course of its existence, the workshop has managed to remain ‘boutique’, with a single stream of presentations supported by high-quality discussants.

This year we had the great pleasure of welcoming two renowned keynote speakers: Heather Royer (UCSB) and Jonathan Roth (Brown University), who shared with us their insights about their recent work in health economics and econometrics. The program included 14 presentations about many important questions in relation to: children’s health and education, gender gaps, minimum wages, pensions and more.

Presentations were given by Life Course Centre Members: Associate Investigator A/Prof Cain Polidano, Research Fellow Dr Jan Kabátek and Affiliate Ewa Galecka-Burdziak.

The workshop attracted more than 80 registrations and significant attendance by government agencies. This workshop is a one-stop shop for applied economics that engages directly with questions that matter to policy-makers and contributes to building the evidence-base to support efficient policy making.

The Life Course Centre is proud to be once again involved as a sponsor of this Workshop.
