Life Course Centre researcher honoured for work and family research

2 February 2022

Congratulations to Dr Barbara Broadway, Life Course Centre Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne, who was selected as a nominee for the 2021 Rosabeth Moss Kanter International Award for Research Excellence in Work and Family.

Named in honour of Rosabeth Moss Kanter, one of the most influential contributors to modern literature on work and family, the international Kanter Award for Research Excellence is jointly run by the Center for Families at Purdue University, Indiana, and Boston College’s Center for Work & Family. The award seeks to raise the awareness of high-quality research on work and families among the scholar, consultant and practitioner communities. The nominees are selected via a very rigorous process. A committee of over 60 leading scholars, examined over 2500 articles published in 83 leading English-language journals from around the world. A three-stage process leads to the final selections. No external nominations are solicited or accepted. As the standards of quality for work-family research continue to rise, the actionable findings from the best studies will become more commonplace in business communities to inform policy and best people practices.

Barbara was nominated for the following article, whose co-authors included Life Course Centre Chief Investigator Professor Guyonne Kalb:
